Let’s just pretend those Marvel: Ultimate Alliance re-releases were supposed to launch this week, shall we? I noticed discussion of a patch around the internet today (thanks, PC Gamer) so I loaded them up and checked. Sure enough, both games are patched and are (so far as I can tell) functioning properly, as of now. That’s a record turn-around from last week’s disastrous launch!
Well, mostly. The crackling audio that plagued Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 is a thing of the past, and controller support seems good—so long as you’re using an Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller, at least. I don’t have a DualShock hooked up to check, let alone any third-party controller.
But the DLC characters are still arriving sometime “in the coming weeks” for the original Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, according to Activision. It’ll be free, but…well, I don’t know why they launched the game in this state. It’s still baffling.
Anyway, the game is playable if you want a bit of nostalgia. Whether you’re willing to pay $30 for a barely-touched reissue of a decade-old game? That’s your business.
