Back in September my colleague Lincoln wrote a handy column on how to import bookmarks and favorites into Microsoft’s Edge browser. Now that Microsoft’s Anniversary Update is out in the wild, things have changed for the better (which hasn’t been the case with all aspects of the Anniversary Update, unfortunately). Here are the two ways you can do it.

If you’ve never used Edge before a handy link to import your favorites will appear the first time you open the browser.
First, when you open Edge for the very first time, it’ll display a handy link right at the top of the browser that will take you right to the import dialog. Yeah, pretty easy.

The “Favorites” icon in Edge is a bizarre set of lines.
If that link doesn’t appear, just click the Hub icon—the three horizontal lines near the top right-hand corner of the browser window. We know, it’s a confusing icon. A menu bar will appear below with a few icons denoting different basic elements of Edge. It will open to the Favorites submenu (star icon) by default.

You can just click the box for the browser you want to import from and you’re done.
This is also a good time to make sure you enable the Favorites bar for Edge, which I covered a few weeks ago.
When the Favorites submenu appears, click the gearlike Settings icon to the right. A menu of Favorites settings will appear. Scroll down to the Import favorites section.
You can import bookmarks automatically from Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox. Just click the one you want to import from and you’re done.
The imported bookmarks will appear in Edge’s Favorites submenu as a folder with a name such as Imported from Chrome. Open the folder to access the bookmark links, which will be divided into subfolders for regular bookmarked links and links that were part of your Chrome browser’s bookmarks bar.
You can move links with your mouse from the other browser’s folder to Edge’s Favorites folder. You can also move them to Edge’s Favorites bar folder (you’ve enabled the Favorites bar, right?) to get those links to show up on the Favorites bar.
