Thursday marks the 50th anniversary of the original Star Trek series, but if you swing more Picard than Kirk, your dreams just came true.
ThinkGeek announced that it’s taking preorders for a working Bluetooth ComBadge—a screen-accurate replica of the badge from Star Trek: The Next Generation.
The ComBadge, which is made of ABS plastic and zinc functions as a Bluetooth speaker and mic. A neodymium magnet keeps it affixed to your uniform or favorite nerd t-shirt. It charges via micro-USB and will give you about 10 hours of battery life.

Communicator badges in the 23rd century let crew members talk to the computer with a single tap.
Rather than connecting directly to an orbiting Starship, you’ll need to connect it to your phone for it to function as a communicator.
And yes, tapping on it produces the iconic chirping sound effect when answering or making a call. You can also use it to access Siri or Google Now functionality. The ComBadge is expecting to ship as early as this November and will cost $79.99.
If, on the other hand, your idea of a strong captain is more the Captain Kirk in a ripped t-shirt variety, ThinkGeek has you covered there as well with its original series Bluetooth Communicator.
Why this matters: It may seem like just a TV show, but Star Trek is often cited as being the inspiration for much of today’s tech.
