Sometimes even Android need to release some fluid, and Google’s iconic green man is doing just that in a hilarious Google Maps easter egg—all over an apple. Awkward.
Team Android discovered the image near the town of Rawalpindi, Pakistan. See it for yourself here. Update 1: Tom H on Twitter points out that this image can be found very near the lubricating Android. Burn returned!
Whether it’s the work of someone at Google or a merry prankster abusing tools like Map Maker is unknown, but smart money’s on the latter. While this easter egg’s sure to be a hit with Android aficionados, I’d be shocked if it stays up now that it’s in the public eye and thrust into Google’s face, so be sure to check it out sooner rather than later if you’re interested.
Update 2: Aaaaaaand it’s gone. “We’re sorry for this inappropriate user-created content; we’re working to remove it quickly,” Google’s Mara Harris told the Washington Post. “We also learn from these issues, and we’re constantly improving how we detect, prevent and handle bad edits.”
