It’s a good week to be broke and/or cheap, what with Overkill Software giving away Payday for free for the next 24 hours, GOG.com handing out the classic Aliens Vs. Predator through Friday morning, and now Valve allowing you to play a host of fairly big-name games for free this entire weekend.
From 10 AM Pacific time on Thursday, October 16 until sometime Sunday/Monday you can install and play ten different titles on Steam for absolutely zero cost. This is by far the largest free weekend Valve’s ever implemented, and it comes with some accompanying price cuts—each of the ten games will also be on sale, to entice you to buy and keep playing after your access ends.
The ten titles in question are as follows:
- Awesomenauts
- Blade Symphony
- Company of Heroes 2
- Don’t Starve
- Grid 2
- Injustice: Gods Among Us
- Killing Floor
- Payday 2
- Trine 2
- XCOM: Enemy Unknown
To play the games for free, simply open your Steam Library. You’ll see the 10 titles included—install the ones you want to play and start playing! (Heading to each game’s store page will only display the discounted purchase price, not an offer to play the games for free.)
Of course, if you’ve got an empty weekend ahead of you and you’re a speedy gamer, you could undoubtedly finish one or two of these games before Valve revokes your access. What are you waiting for?
