Branding consulting firm CoreBrand released its yearly rankings of the 100 Most Powerful Brands. and while you’ll find old standbys like McDonalds, Disney, and Coca-Cola in the top 10 slots, you’ll also find newcomers such as Apple.
That’s right: Apple is the 10th most powerful brand according to CoreBrand’s analysis, which it the most powerful tech brand. But it’s hardly the only tech company to hold down a spot in the top 100, as Business Insider points out. Microsoft is hot on Apple’s heels at number 11, while Google, Yahoo, and Sony rank 26th, 28th, and 31st, respectfully.
Microsoft’s high ranking may come as a bit of a surprise to some in the tech world given how it has struggled to make any headway in the mobile scene, but keep in mind that this is based on overall strength of the brand across the board: Microsoft still has a strong position in the PC market and in workplaces.
Having a little thing called the Xbox probably doesn’t hurt, either.
If you want to see the full rankings, you can do so over on the CoreBrand website. You will need to register to access the full rankings (which means providing CoreBrand with your name, an email address, and a phone number), though registration is free.
