LAS VEGAS—It sounds like the stuff of tragedy: “Madman menaces tech reporters with mallet.” But it was just Tech21’s way of showing off the technology behind its protective cases during CES 2013.
At the Digital Experience held during CES, the UK company had a pile of goo—more specifically, its D30 impact protection material—to demonstrate how Tech21 products can absorb the blows that daily life hands out. In this video, those blows are dealt out by a mallet. On impact, the molecules of the material in Tech21’s cases bind together to protect your device from shocks.
“Impressive,” you may be thinking. “But just how much protection can that substance offer?” We suppose that’s why the Tech21 representative wrapped his fingers in the D30 material and started pounding away.
Tech21 offers a multitude of cases for smartphones, including Apple’s iPhone and a variety of Android, Windows, and Blackberry devices, as well as tablets and laptops.
