Raspberry Pi Gets Even Sweeter With This Optimized Raspbian OS Update

The Raspberry Pi might have taken forever to arrive since its original conception, but at least software updates are coming hot and fast now. The makers of our favorite $35 computer-on-a-stick have just released a new version of Debian Linux optimized specifically for the Raspberry Pi called Raspbian.

Previously, if you owned a Raspberry Pi, you could try your hand at installing a variety of different Linux distros, including Fedora, Debian, and ArchLinux. Raspbian, on the other hand, was programmed specifically to improve the Raspberry Pi’s floating point processing performance for, most notably, “much faster web browsing.”

The update also brings a number of tweaks and improvements to the firmware, kernel and applications. You can grab a SD image of the Raspbian OS from their downloads page now.
