Inbox overload got you down? Are you constantly chasing responses to your messages? These are but a few of the email-related hassles that can sap your productivity.
Across the pond, business-insurance provider Simply Business (great name!) put together an interactive chart aimed at solving email’s biggest problems.
Starting at the center, you choose which problem is plaguing you the most:
“Do items stay in your inbox for weeks without being actioned?”
“Do you have trouble managing the size of your inbox?”
“Do you feel reading & responding to email interrupts your workflow?”
And so on. For any given problem (there are five in total), you’ll see two “answers” in the form of tools, articles, or videos that can help.
For example, if you’re coping with an overloaded inbox, you can click through to an “Inbox Zero” video from renowned productivity guru Merlin Mann, or a blog post on “Email Sanity” from Zenhabits’ Leo Babauta.
Meanwhile, the problem of “constantly chasing responses” can be resolved via a post on writing effective emails or Boomerang, one of my favorite mail-management services.
Granted, there’s not much new information here that regular readers of, say, our very own Simply Business haven’t seen. But I love the layout, simplicity, and comprehensiveness of this little chart. It’s a great first step in tackling some of email’s more daunting challenges.
Take a look (making sure to click through for the interactive version), then chime in with your own remedies for some of these problems.
