Zynga games Draw Something and Zynga Poker will be available on Nokia’s Asha Touch range of phones later this year, the Finnish phone maker said in a blog post on Friday.
Both games will be free downloads from the Nokia Store and will be available for Nokia’s Asha 305, Asha 306 and Asha 311. The three phones, which are based on the S40 platform, were announced in June as a way for Nokia to make up some lost ground in the feature phones space.
The announcement is the result of a deal Nokia signed with Zynga in June.
Already, Asha Touch phone owners can play games from developers such as EA, Gameloft and Rovio. When announcing the phones, Nokia said that titles such as Tetris, Bejeweled, Need for Speed: The Run and FIFA 12 would be available.
Nokia isn’t the only company banking on games to help them sell more phones. In May, semiconductor company MediaTek and Gameloft joined forces to develop games for phones based on MediaTek’s chipsets.
Earlier this week, market research company Gartner said Nokia had increased its feature phone sales, despite the fact that the overall market contracted. With that in mind the sales growth was an impressive feat, but Nokia still needs to improve sales in the smartphone sector, Anshul Gupta , principal research analyst at Gartner, said.
