AT&T on Thursday issued a string of announcements, among them that the carrier will soon offer Samsung’s ATIV Smart PC.
This Windows 8 computer was first revealed in August at the IFA trade show in Berlin, along with a Smart PC Pro, the ATIV Tab, and the ATIV S smartphone. The Smart PC was previously only announced for Europe. AT&T and Samsung did not announce pricing or availability in the U.S., though the companies did say the Smart PC would be released sometime this year.
The Smart PC is a hybrid PC that transitions between a traditional clamshell notebook and a tablet. It comes installed with Windows 8 and a trial version of Microsoft Office 2013. Details were thin, but Samsung did say that the Smart PC runs on an Intel Clover Trail dual-core processor with 64GB of memory. The ATIV line comes with an S Pen stylus so you can write on the 11.6-inch touchscreen.
This announcement is just one of many involving Windows 8 tablets and PCs in the lead up to Windows 8’s Oct. 26 launch.
