The coat looks just like the one worn by David Tennant during his very popular tenure as the tenth Doctor (and has since passed the torch to Matt Smith, who plays the eleventh). The coat is “officially licensed” by the BBC and boasts “high quality wool-blend fabric and fully lined interior pockets” (no word on whether the pockets are bigger on the inside).
The sizes range from S to XXL and it costs $329, which must strike serious cosplayers as a fair price because the coat is currently out of stock.
No disrespect intended to Jon Pertwee and his cravat, but Tennant played the Doctor as a geeky but relaxed and stylish persona (and was pretty popular with the ladies to boot). Tennant is widely credited for bringing the show to the attention of American fans, and you can hardly hit a comic or sci-fi convention without finding a decked-out Doctor cosplayer. And it’s a good thing, too… because that outfit Colin Smith wore as the sixth Doctor was just nasty.
