Apple released the sixth beta of iOS 5 to developers on August 19, and it was initially reported that an earlier Redsn0w jailbreak method would work with the new beta. Unfortunately, the Redsn0w method didn’t quite work, as detailed by Redmond Pie.
Given Redsn0w’s problems with beta 6, hacker iH8Snow of alternative jailbreak tool Sn0wbreeze quickly set to work on a working jailbreak method–Sn0wbreeze version 2.8.
Sn0wbreeze 2.8 works on any iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS, but only the first generation iPad can get in on the jailbreak action at the moment–sorry, iPad 2 owners.
Smash iPhone has the full run-down on how you can join the latest jailbreak party, as well as a step-by-step guide to using Sn0wbreeze.
