Using AutoScreenRecorder 2.0, you can record and play back animated
events, ranging from a series of mouse clicks to a streaming online
movie, as an AVI video file. Like its sibling application,
ScreenHunter 4.0, which captures still screenshots,
AutoScreenRecorder lets you choose to capture either a region of
your screen, the active window, or the full screen. The downside is
that you won’t get audio with your visuals. Still, that’s a
valuable trait in a freeware tool.
A Pro edition of AutoScreenRecorder, available for $49.95, includes sound recording via speaker or microphone, though I was unable to get this working. The Pro version can generate Flash movies in addition to AVI files. AutoScreenRecorder Pro is also available for a 15-day trial.
