“What’s everyone playing?” says a well-known developer at lunch yesterday. He holds up three fingers: “Angry Birds, World of Warcraft, Call of Duty. Right?”
Right. It’s what you do. For all the launch bugs, user scorn, and hopelessly clichéd solo gameplay, Call of Duty’s what you play. And so it’s also what we have to cover. Like the fact that an Australian games retailer just leaked the name of the next Call of Duty: Black Ops downloadable update.
Oops.
The next DLC looks to be called “The Escalation Pack” and comes with five maps. I’d normally skip listing them, but their names seem to describe the gameplay.
So: Seize the Zoo, Take the Hotel, Secure the Convoy, Raid the Stockpile, and Survive: Call of the Dead.
The whole thing should be available in early May (May 3, 2011 in Australia) if the leaked advertisement’s correct. And if prior pack pricing’s an indicator, it’ll set you back $15.
