HTC is known for its attractive, unibody aluminum phones so it is nice that the Flyer retains this aesthetic in a larger form. It weighs slightly less than a pound and it is a manageable 0.51-inches thick.
Powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, the Flyer carries 1GB RAM with 32GB Rom. Other specs include a front-facing camera for video calls, a back-facing 5-megapixel camera as well as HSPA+ support along with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
Android tablets have the challenge of differentiating themselves from the rest of the pack. They must offer something either hardware- or software-wise to make consumers want to buy them over another manufacturer’s. HTC is up to the game, however and has a really neat app, called Scribe, that lets you take notes, draw pictures and more directly onto the tablet as if it is a pad of paper.
The Flyer will also come with HTC’s HD movie service, HTC Watch, so you can download major motion pictures directly onto the tablet.
Pricing or availability has not been announced. I’m dying to get my hands on this tablet, however, so stay tuned for a full report from the showfloor.
