The iPad 2 goes on sale March 11, but bargain hunters who don’t desire Apple’s latest and greatest tablet can grab the original iPad on the cheap. The Apple Store’s clearance page is now selling the first-generation, Wi-Fi 16GB iPad for $399, which is $100 off the original price. The pricier models are discounted too. Here’s a breakdown:
The discounts are tempting, provided you’re willing to pass on the iPad 2’s charms, which include a front and rear camera, a slimmer and lighter design, a new gyroscope, and a faster 1.2GHz dual-core processor.
The new iPad 2s inherit the pricing model of their predecessors. At the low end, the Wi-Fi 16GB model is $499; the top-of-the-line Wi-Fi + 3G 64GB is $829.
