Doodle Jump Tops 10 Million Paid Downloads, Bounces to Kinect

Maybe you can’t stop playing Angry Birds, or that new one about the flappy bird skimming hills and groovy sunsets. Me, I’m still Doodle Jump’s slave. You know how the game tracks wherever you’ve scored (read: biffed it) right-hand side? The right side of my screen looks like a ladder to wherever Doodle Jumpers go, each rung personally signed.
What if they put that on a console? Not with a gamepad. That’d be a mistake. No, I mean something that lets you interact without buttons or joysticks altogether.
Like Kinect. It looks like developer Lima Sky’s doing the honors, and yep, it seems your favorite green, squiggly, four-footed aardvark-thing has a date with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 motion sensor–Xbox Live Arcade, specifically, making it the first ever XBLA Kinect game.
How’s that work? Lima Sky hasn’t said, but I’d wager it’ll involve swaying left and right in front of your TV. Though I’ve found that to be a little unreliable in terms of precision-tracking, playing games like Kinect Adventures and Joy Ride. Let’s hope Lima Sky’s able to go one (or two, or three) precision bits better.
Can you believe Doodle Jump’s been around for two years? It just passed the 10 million paid downloads mark, according to Lima Sky. Yeah, we’re not talking Angry Birds numbers, but when you’re finally burned out firing birds at pigs, simply rocking a little doodle-dude skyward feels almost therapeutic.
