Here’s the one not-so-black-op you won’t get to execute in Call of Duty: Black Ops: Steal over 100 copies of the soon-to-launch first-person shooter at gunpoint.
That’s what a pair of robbers packing semi-automatic handguns pulled off Saturday night at a Maryland GameStop. The Baltimore Sun reports they struck just as the Festival at Bel Air store was closing and looted cash, game systems, and four boxes filled with copies of Activision’s not-yet-released Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game launches tomorrow nationwide.
It’s not clear which version was stolen, but the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC versions go for $60 each, while the Wii version sells for $50.
According to ABC News, customers who showed up as the robbery was in progress got more than they bargained for, though no one was injured.
“Originally, the robber told the customers that the store was closed but then they brought them into the store, ushered them into the back store room, where they put them for the remainder of the robbery,” said a spokesperson for the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.
Make that robbery number two of a Hartford County GameStop in less than a month. Police believe a prior robbery that occurred October 21 at an Aberdeen GameStop may be related.
The two men are believed to have fled in a white minivan. If you have information about the robbery, you’re asked to call the Harford County Sheriff’s Office at 410-836-5430.
