AT&T and T-Mobile started selling three Windows Phone 7 devices for $199 each with a new two-year contract. AT&T has the HTC Surround and the Samsung Focus, while T-Mobile has the HTC HD7. The Samsung Focus has a 4-inch display, the HTC HD7 boosts an even bigger screen at 4.3-inches, while the HTC Surround has a 3.8-inch display. All three phones run on 1GHz processors. Bargain shoppers can get one of these phones cheaper though. The Dell Mobility Store lists the HTC Surround with AT&T for $149.99 (shipping in 2-3 days), while on Amazon you can get the same phone for $99.99. The LG Quantum comes at $149.99 from the Dell Mobility Store, or at $99.99 from Amazon Wireless.
Before you decide to spend your hard-earned cash on a Windows Phone 7, the first reviews of the new OS and phones are mixed. The innovative Metro interface received praises from reviewers, but several missing features like multitasking, copy/paste and Flash support dragged down Microsoft’s OS in the rakings.
