Dell’s latest in geektechery is making the rounds—a 10-inch netbook-tablet hybrid with a sweet swiveling screen. If you want to show off that awesome photo from last month’s vacation, just flip the screen around with the swivel; to do some typing, just flip it back around. The new hybrid was recently displayed at the Intel Developer Forum 2010, according to Engadget.
The Dell hybrid has a 10-inch touchscreen, is based around a dual-core Atom N550 processor, and features Windows 7 Premium. The tablet also features a keyboard, unlike the Apple iPad, so it’s more in-line with the notebook-tablet hybrid PCs we’ve seen for several years. According to Cnet’s report, the Dell presenter took a shot at the iPad (and other keyboard-less tablets), saying, “There are times that you have to do work. Tablets are great for entertainment, but they aren’t exactly conducive to productivity.”

Personally, if I’m going to fork out hundreds–if not thousands–of dollars for a piece of electronics, I’d like it to actually be useful for more than showing off pictures, so something like the Dell tablet hybrid would be more up my alley than the iPad.
Dell has not provided a price for the swiveling hybrid, but if it’s like the rest of their computers, it’ll be expensive. Dell has not provided any other details on the hybrid, but it should be available to you by the end of 2010.
