You can now take a little Star Wars with you wherever you go with Motorola’s awesome-looking Droid R2-D2 phone on Verizon. The special edition of their Droid 2 comes (on top of the Droid 2’s usual specs) with a really cool themed dock, R2-D2 clock widget, and a carbonite design box, alongside a host of wallpapers, photos, sounds and wired stereo headset. There’s also the Binocular App, which is presumably a digital zoom.
Fans will also find a special video called “The Best of R2-D2”, containing the original Cantina music.
In addition, for all Verizon users running Android 2.1 and higher can access the Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back app. For a one-off price of $2.99, you can access even more wallpapers, photos, sounds, and a few games, plus hidden content and widgets.
The Droid R2-D2 will be available from September 30th, however there is a slight catch. The handset itself costs $249, however there is also a $100 mail rebate to pay on top of that too. Then, you’ll need to sign up for a two-year voice and data plan too. Though for hardcore Star Wars fans, it’s probably worth the charges.
No word yet if it comes in Lego bricks.
