AVG may not have the brand recognition of McAfee or Symantec, but with two decades of experience and over 110 million customers it’s no slouch in security either. Now, AVG is attempting to establish itself more with the small and medium business community by introducing AVG Internet Security 2011 Business Edition, and AVG Antivirus 2011 Business Edition.
The SMB market is generally between a proverbial rock and a hard place when it comes to computer security. These businesses have many of the same online security and data protection needs as large companies, but lack the budget and personnel to have in-house expertise in the form of a dedicated IT department, or even a lone information security admin.

While the SMB market is often ignored, the AVG products will actually have some competition. Microsoft recently made its Microsoft Security Essentials antimalware product available for free for up to 10 PCs for SMBs, and products like Panda Cloud Internet Protection provide a compelling alternative for SMBs to consider, including the potential for security to be outsourced to experts as a managed service.
