If you’re a power BlackBerry user, you’ve probably experienced the annoyance of scrolling through a long contact list to find who want. Xobni Mobile, a new app for BlackBerrys, is here to help.
Outlook users might be familiar with Xobni’s desktop plugin, which alleviates the headaches of finding contacts and messages in the e-mail client. Xobni Mobile delivers this ease-of-use to your smartphone with smart contact organization and deep integration within the BlackBerry platform.
The app creates profiles for every person you’ve ever communicated with and ranks them in order of relevance rather than alphabetically. Contacts you’ve most recently communicated with–or most frequently communicate with–will be listed at the top for quick access.
The app also aggregates all of your contacts’ social network accounts, like Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter, and lists them under one profile. The user interface is similar to the contact syncing applications we’ve seen on Palm’s webOS or some of the user interfaces for Android, like MotoBlur. You can access your contacts via the app or in the compose window of the BlackBerry Email application.
Xobni is also launching Xobni One, a service that connects information between your desktop Outlook inbox and Xobni Mobile.
Currently, Xobni is available exclusively for BlackBerry handsets running version 5.0 or higher. When I spoke with the company, Xobni said that eventually the application will be available for other platforms. The standalone Xobni Mobile app costs $10, while Xobni Mobile with Xobni One is a $7 one-time fee with a $4 recurring monthly fee. One year of Xobni Mobile with Xobni is $40 per year.
