The episode begins with Stan’s friends–Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman–making him a Facebook profile against his will. The profile then goes on to take on a life of its own, sucking Stan into the world of Facebook.
The South Park elementary-schoolers deal with all the wonderful annoyances of Facebook–including what to do when your parents join Facebook and, er, expect you to be their friend.
Meanwhile, Kyle learns what can happen when you friend someone who’s a social loser–he friends third-grader Kip Drordy and suddenly his friend count drops (and there’s nobody around to fertilize his crops in Farmville! Oh no!).
Kip (who, by the way has over 41,000 fans on Facebook as of this evening) falls into the trap of assuming that Facebook friends are real friends.
And Stan learns that people on Facebook take everything waaay too seriously:
All right, so South Park isn’t really saying anything new about Facebook (but it’s still funny), but I did appreciate the nod to Chatroulette:
According to Cartman, “If you want to find some quality friends, you have to wade through all the dicks first!”
Yep, kids say it best.
