SecureWorks has acquired DNS Limited, a U.K.-based provider of security services.
The acquisition, announced Tuesday, gives the Atlanta-based SecureWorks a foothold in Europe. DNS runs an operations center in Edinburgh and has offices in London. SecureWorks declined to say what it paid for the 10-year-old company.
Both companies sell managed security services — essentially taking care of their customers’ network security for a fee — but DNS also has an identity and access management practice that will give SecureWorks a new line of business.
With the addition of the DNS staff, SecureWorks now employes more than 500 people, a company spokeswoman said Tuesday. DNS CEO Graeme Cox will stay on to run the company’s European business, she added.
This is SecureWorks’ second acquisition of 2009. In July it picked up VeriSign’s managed security business for US$42.9 million.
