That was my initial response when I heard Apple will stream a concert tonight at 9 p.m. Pacific Time by electronica band Underworld. (Thanks, NewTeeVee.)
Apple promised streaming video capabilities months ago with the launch of iPhone OS 3.0. The HTTP-based streaming audio and video protocol picks the right bit-rate for your phone’s data connection quality.
The idea is if a lot of people want to watch a live event or a user loses a connection, Apple’s technology will be able to handle it on the fly.
Honestly, is there anything more annoying than dropping a connection while streaming live video from a cell-phone? Well, OK; maybe it’s as annoying as the fact you can use your iPhone to find “medical” Marijuana but not Google Voice.
