Computex 2015: Asus ZenWatch 2 could have 4-day battery

PCWorld | May 31, 2015

The ZenWatch 2, a new Android Wear smartwatch from Asus, will have a battery life of between three and four days, the company said. It previewed the watch at Computex 2015 ahead of a launch later this year.

This smartwatch could last up to four days on a single charge.

It doesn’t look much different from any other Android smartwatch, but if Asus can deliver long battery life, the ZenWatch 2 would be in a class of its own.

Most smartwatches, both Android and Apple, struggle to last a day, so the three to four day battery life Asus is aiming for would be exceptional.

Unfortunately, the actual battery life and indeed any other details won’t be known until September when Asus plans to launch the watch at the IFA trade show.

Asus has said it’s planning three stainless steel case colors with 18 different strap and color combinations. It will also have a new magnetic cable charger that locks into the back of the case.

It improves on the first-generation ZenWatch, which was unveiled at the IFA show in September last year. The remote camera function, which shows the camera view from a paired smartphone, now works faster and can switch from the phone's front and rear cameras. It can also zoom in and out.
