Nexus 5X, 6P: What you need to know

IDG News Service | Sep 29, 2015

The Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are available for preorder and start at $379 and $499 respectively.

And today I'm super excited to announce not one, but two new amazing Nexus phones. The Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P. Now the Nexus 6P has an incredibly vibrant 5.7 inch WQHD AMOLED display. Inside the phone packs the latest 64 bit processor powered by almost a three and a half milliamp hour battery. The brand new USB type C port brings fast. As I mentioned earlier, the 12.3 megapixel imaging sensor has very large 1.55 micron pixels providing 92 percent more light collecting efficiency than the original Nexus 6. The larger the pixel size at a given density the more photons of light the sensor can collect in tricky lighting conditions. The Nexus 5X can capture in a 125 frames per second and the Nexus 6P up to 240 frames per second. So to unlock my device with Nexus imprint all I have to do is tap the sensor at the back and it simultaneously wakes up the phone's processor and unlocks the phone. Finally, I'm happy to announce that Andoird 6.0 Marshmallow will begin rolling out to existing Nexus devices starting next week including the Nexus 5, 6, 7, 9 and Nexus player. Starting today the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P will be available for preorder in the US, UK, Ireland and Japan with more countries coming in the next few weeks. In terms of pricing, the Nexus 5X starts at 379 dollars and the Nexus 6P starts at 499 dollars. Both phones will begin shipping later in October. Both will be unlocked without tying you to a contract.
